Anurag Sharma received his medical degree (MBBS) from Bilaspur, India and then finished his Anatomic/Clinical Pathology MD residency from KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, India. Thereafter he worked at CORE Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd. (a leading tertiary referral laboratory in India) as a Staff Pathologist for almost two years. He then joined Government Medical College Rajnandgaon as an Assistant Professor in Pathology and Transfusion Medicine. In order to further his training in Pathology, Anurag visited various US institutions as a preceptee such as Cleveland Clinic (Dermatopathology and Soft Tissue Pathology) under Drs. Steven D. Billings and Brain P. Rubin, Medical College of Wisconsin under Dr. Saul Suster, and University Health System, Augusta, Georgia under Dr. Kailash Sharma. Impressed by the system of Pathology practice and training in the US, Anurag decided to move to the US and start his postdoctoral research fellowship at Mayo Clinic under the guidance of his research mentor, Dr. John C. Cheville. After completion of the research fellowship, Anurag joined the Anatomic/Clinical Pathology residency at Cleveland Clinic. Anurag is interested in Dermatopathology and intends to do a fellowship in it. Anurag has been involved in social media pathology since 2013 when he joined as a group administrator for Dr. Jerad Gardner’s Dermatopathology and Bone & Soft Tissue Pathology Facebook groups. Online pathology education by US Pathologists such as Dr. Sanjay Mukhopadhyay and Dr. Jerad Gardner through social media has helped Anurag greatly when he was working in resource limited areas in India. These online interactions greatly facilitated Anurag to begin his journey towards US Pathology. Anurag intends to return the favor by helping the system of online outreach through social media or through websites like pathelective.com to facilitate online pathology education for medical students, residents, and pathologists all over the world.
