Maryam Pezhouh MD MSc is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. She did her anatomic and Clinical pathology residency at University of Texas Southwestern followed by a fellowship in Gastrointestinal and Liver pathology at Johns Hopkins. She is also the medical director of the immunohistochemistry laboratory at Northwestern Hospital.  Clinically, she is a diagnostic surgical pathologist with a subspecialty focus in gastrointestinal and liver pathology. Her research focuses on better understanding of the inflammatory bowel disease pathogenesis, microbiota and emerging gastrointestinal and liver injury patterns. She is actively involved in teaching medical students at the Northwestern University and has been lecturing nationally and internationally on GI and liver topics.
