Dr. Cullen Lilley is a pathology resident (AP/CP) at UCLA Health in Los Angeles, CA. He is a recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and is among one of the founders of PathElective. He earned his MS in microbiology from the University of Florida (‘19) during which time he worked as a microbiologist contracted through IHRC at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA.
He graduated with a BS (‘17) in biological science and a BM (‘17) in music with elective studies in chemistry from Loyola University New Orleans where he was involved with research in the molecular patterns underlying rheumatoid arthritis. He has experience in molecular biology, molecular epidemiology, and public health microbiology. His research interests are in innovative techniques in medical education, bioethical issues in pathology/lab medicine, and omics approaches to diagnostics and biomarker discovery.
Cullen is also the creator of #MicroMedEd—a hashtag and blog aimed at spreading reliable information about microbiology and its related fields across Twitter and Instagram, but it is also housed on PathElective as a supplement to current microbiology content. At PathElective, Cullen is serving as a member of the clinical pathology faculty for the microbiology course and serves as the principal website developer.
