Dr. Ana Isabel Gómez Velázquez is from Mexico City and graduated from the University Nacional autónoma de México Facultad de Estudios Superiores Iztacala. She is currently in her second post graduate year of residency with the Department of Pathology at West Virginia University where she holds a position as ASCP ambassador. She has presented neuroanatomy lectures at the West Virginia Brain Bee state competition and also participated in international community outreach health initiatives through the Telepathology-Telemedicine Prevention Program at WVU where she gave lectures to small communities in Guatemala on the importance of Preventive Medicine, different types of screening and the role of a pathologist.
Her interests in pathology are microbiology, hematopathology and dermatopathology.
In her free time, she enjoys watercolor painting, training her two dogs, a Border Collie and a Shetland Sheepdog, playing the drums and traveling with her husband.
