Course Description

This course is aimed at teaching students about the basics of microbiology from the lab, to all the diversity of microbes that are studied there. This course can be used as a modular recap of material you want to review or a comprehensive review of clinical microbiology. This course is meant for those who have experience in science with little to no experience with microbiology. We will cover clinically relevant bacterial, viral, eukaryotic, and fungal biology while mentioning the diversity of pathogens you will see in the lab. After this course, you should be prepared to take the Clinical Microbiology course which takes a deep dive into the diagnostic techniques used in the clinical microbiology lab.
