Illustrations of Histology:
Lesson 2
Bone, Muscles, and Nerve
Objectives
By the end of the video, students should be able to:
Summarize the similar layered structure of bone, muscle, and nerves.
Identify the connective tissue layers that have a similar naming scheme for bone, muscle, and nerves (Endo-, Peri-, and Epi-) and which structures contain all three vs. only two of three.
Discuss how all micro structures and functional units of muscle, bones, and nerves come together to form the macro structures on gross dissection.
Understand the structural organization of the sarcomere, describe what makes up the I and A band in terms of structural components (actin and myosin) as well as what makes up the light and dark bands that would be visualized on light microscopy.
