Objectives
By the end of the video, students should be able to:
Label the main layers of the digestive tract and their subcomponents from the lumen to the exterior including the mucosa, submucosa, muscularis propria, and serosa/adventitia.
Know the histology of key transition points in the GI tract including the gastroesophageal and anorectal junction
Describe the gross structure and layers of the stomach as well as the histology of the various sections of the stomach (cardia, fundus, body, antrum/pylorus) focusing on the size of the pits and glands and types of glands located in each part of the stomach.
Understand the macro to micro structure of the small intestine (plicae, villi, enterocyte, microvilli) that contributes to its large surface area.
Know the relative location and composition of the sections of the small intestine and colon and the key features of each part of the tract.
